It all started with Superman. Sure the Superman movies were pretty campy, yet still they struck a cord with Americans. From that start we moved on to Batman and Spiderman and not long after that the world of superhero movies exploded into Hulk, Ironman, Thor, The Avengers, League of Extraordinary Gentleman, X-Men and the list just keeps growing. It isn’t just the big screen either. Television and Netflix have explode in superhero shows like Daredevil, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Jessica Jones, Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, just to name a few.
So what does it say about Americans that we have become so enamored with superheroes? Perhaps the message here is that America is in distress and that the fantasy of having someone with super powers coming to our rescue allows us to believe that someone, anyone will step forward and save us from the destructive direction Western Civilization has taken. Now to be fair most of these shows are, from an entertainment point of view really great shows (except for Supergirl which is just plain awful) but that also means that the genera is so big that the studios that make them are spending the big bucks to crank them out. We are taking ab out very expensive productions here that they wouldn’t be spending such big bucks on without the certainty of success especially those made for TV or Netflix.
The problem with dreaming and hoping is they tend to get in the way of action. Some view Mr. Trump as a kind of superhero who has come to our rescue against the evils of collectivism and the violence inherent in leftists and their ideologies. Once a child even asked him if Trump was Batman (without a moment of hesitation he responded that he was in fact Batman) which seemed like a very good analogy for such a little tyke. Unfortunately for all of us Donald Trump cannot fly, run at speeds of over 500 mph, or throw a Checker Cab like a Frisbee. He can’t fix the republic by himself because we’ve just gone way to far in the wrong direction. The funny part is in the superhero movies and TV shows even those with fantastic abilities need help and can’t go it alone.
I want you to get up right now and fetch a mirror. I’ll wait.
Back so soon? Good. Now look into that mirror and look at yourself deep into your own eyes. See that person looking back at you? That is the superhero you’ve been looking and hoping for. There is so much more to you than you know. You are smarter and stronger than you think you are and the only thing holding you back is lack of confidence. Keep looking at that image for a while after you read this. In fact I would like you to spend at least 15 minutes every day looking at that superhero in the mirror until you believe in yourself the way I know you should and the way I believe in you. You wouldn’t be here right now reading this if there wasn’t a superhero within you trying to get out. Let that person out.
America is desperate for superheroes and this is a call to arms. Time to stand up and fight for what you believe in and not wait around getting fat in your chair waiting for someone else to come rescue you. It isn’t going to happen. The country needs you. There is a light beam bouncing off the clouds at night that shows a silhouette of your profile on it. Are you ready to suit up and fight for truth, justice and the American way? Someone has to.
