The Good, The Bad and Ted Cruz

Recently Ted Cruz put out a campaign add that included Amy Lindsay and actress you might know from the Star Trek Voyager episode “Endgame.” Miss Lindsay is a graduate of Texas University at Austin with a degree in journalism and a minor in drama. After working in public relations and marketing she decided to become an actress and moved from Texas to Los Angeles in 1995. Lindsay has since worked as an actress, casting director, producer and production manager as well as doing voice-overs.

Amy Lindsay has also done some soft porn.

As soon as it was reveled that this Christian conservative Republican has done some soft porn (you know the kind of crappy fake porn they show on HBO) Ted Cruz pulled his ad. Let us forget about Ms. Lindsays lightly checkered past for a moment and ask ourselves what this says about Ted Cruz.

There really are 2 kinds of Christians in the world today. There is the kind and loving Christian who is full of piety and forgiveness that understands that we are all often led astray and doesn’t hold that against us. No matter what you have done in your past the moment you take Jesus into your heart as Lord and savior all of your past indiscretions are washed away and you become “born again” in the light of goodness and love.

Then there is the other Christianity the judgmental kind. This type of Christianity believes that all people should live by the doctrine of the canonized New Testament and condemns all who do not as hell bound. These types of Christians are the scary ones that have made people leave the faith en mass and in my own personal opinion have nothing to do with Jesus Christ at all. Remember Jesus embraced a woman who was a whore.

Ted Cruz missed the opportunity to be a good Christian because perhaps that is not who he really is. A good Christian would have stood right next to Amy Lindsay on his soapbox as an example of how one can change their lives no matter what they have done in their past. Cruz missed a shining moment that could have attracted many back to the Church of the one true god by doing something the politically correct crowd would have chastised him for doing at their own demise. But instead this snake oil peddler took the easy way out as his knees buckled to a potential political fallout.

Rafael Cruz spend his entire campaign in Iowa sounding like a Baptist minister and wearing his religion on his sleeve like Matthew described in the bible with his condemnation of the phonies who go to religious institutions to parade their faith to others. There is no question about what Jesus would have done as with Mary Magdalene he would have embraced Amy taking her into his inner circle to protect her from the hypocrites. What Cruz did was feed a woman trying to turn her life around to the lions.

Matthew 6:5-6 (NIV)

“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

  1. It is one of those catch 22 things. Having known casting directors, they essentially have no connection to the company paying for the ad. They do their best in characterizing the scene. Amy Lindsey could be a completely changed person. I do not know. Casting directors do not do counseling sessions, to check someone doing a 30 second ad, to gather every mistake a person has made in their life. Conversely, Cruz is criticized for anything and everything. He is criticized for things he doesn’t even do…like having affairs…..even though the “affairs” are absent women. That is just like Cruz “stealing” Carson’s votes. Even though there wasn’t a single disenfranchised voter complaining. For him, it is up hill. His enemies accuse, without evidence, because the truth doesn’t matter, only winning. So does he dare leave a YouTube video up, that invites criticism? I agree with you, it would be nice if he could use this as an opportunity. Right now, he just has too much on his plate.

    1. Whether anyone is disenfranchised or not Cruz is still guilty of very poor judgement. He has also been implicated in a case of a Washington Madame not to mention that his wife immediately stopped campaigning on his behalf after the accusations of his infidelity arose. Everything I have seen regarding Cruz has put into question his judgement and integrity. Claiming that he has too much on his plate right now is just silly every candidate has a lot on their plate. I’m glad he is losing. He’s not a natural born citizen and his desperation is clearly evident. He’s even willing to destroy the Republican Party for his own ends. There is something creepy about this man.
