Ted Cruz: The Phony Constitutionalist

The Obama Regime and its supporters want you to believe that the President is a Constitutional scholar as if being one is somehow unusual for a Congressman or President. The truth is many if not most Federally elected officials are lawyers and to be a lawyer you have to be a Constitutional scholar as that is the main requirement of being a lawyer. Ask any lawyer.

Ted Cruz is a lawyer. Cruz also graduated from two Ivy League University’s namely Princeton where he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy  and Harvard Law School graduating magna cum laude in 1995 with a Juris Doctor degree. We can therefore assume that the Senator from Texas should be and is very well versed in The Constitution as well as the Federalist Papers which go into greater detail about the intent of the Founding Fathers when penning The Constitution. Additionally we can assume that he would be well versed in American history especially Revolutionary War history and the Continental Congress. You cannot be an effective attorney without this kind of base knowledge.

Given Cruz’s education and experience as both a lawyer and a Senator he should know The Constitution like the back of his hand right? Has he not spent his entire political career defending and promoting The Constitution?

The funny thing about politicians and the Constitution is that the restraints put forth by the Constitution or any law for that matter rarely seem to apply to our political elite and Ted Cruz doesn’t seem to see himself as being restrained legally any more than Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton.

The Constitution of the United States of America requires anyone who would be President of the United States to be a “natural born” citizen. Only a lawyer could interperate the meaning of “natural” to be anything other that what most people and every dictionary thinks it means.

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary the word “natural” means “existing in nature and not made or caused by people : coming from nature.” Being a citizen of an American born in a foreign land makes no one a “natural born” citizen not even Ted Cruz. On a side note Cruz’s parents were not both American citizens only his mother was. When an illegal immigrant comes to America and gives birth to a child what nationality do they become Mexican? No they were born on American soil and are considered a natural born American citizen and at least in the past Cruz has supported that law.

The term “natural born” was not included in the original draft of The Constitution. It stated simply that “No person shall be eligible to the office of President of the United States unless he be now a Citizen of one of the States, or hereafter be born a Citizen of the United States.” Does a Constitutional scholar not know this? The term “natural born citizen” was added to The Constitution after John Jay Americas first Chief Justice who fathered children who were not “natural born” citizens insisted on that phrase being added. I suppose Ted Cruz doesn’t know that either.

It is difficult if not impossible to believe that anyone graduating  magna cum laude from Harvard Law School wouldn’t know these facts.

So what does all this mean? It means that Ted Cruz wants to be president of the United States of America so badly that he is willing to be a hypocrite and use legal shenanigans to pervert The Constitution to that end. It means that Constitutional restrictions on government apply to everyone else but him.

It means that he isn’t the defender of The Constitution that he pretends to be and therefore cannot be the right man to sit in the big chair.contop
